Golf Tournament a Great Success! Special thank you to all the sponsors.

Another fantastic week of weather and a very successful, North Bay & District Chamber of Commerce Annual Golf Tournament has come and gone.  The weather couldn’t have been better and the support from the community, always amazes everyone that participates.  Osprey Links was in great shape for the tournament and we even managed to get Jeff Rogerson out on the golf course for one of his rare rounds of golf.  Thanks to Jeff and his entire staff for a great day.

The golf tournament is utilized as a fundraiser for the North Bay and Area Community Foundation and the proceeds from this event are donated to the Foundation to help in the great work that they do in our area.  As is the case with most of the charity golf tournaments held, it would not be possible to hold these events, if not for the generous participation of so many individuals that continue to support these worthwhile events through out the year.

A huge thank you goes out to Steve Deacon of Deacon Wealth Management, our major sponsor for the event, along with the many other charitable causes that Steve and DWM supports, in our community.    Many thanks to our additional sponsors Kennedy Insurance Brokers, Canadore College, Cooper Equipment Rentals, KIA North Bay, Buchner Manufacturing, Caisse Alliance, BDO, Union Gas, Grant Thornton, HGS, Skaters Edge, Rebuilt Resources, Hock Exchange Canada, Digsafe Contracting and Osprey Links Golf Course.  Many thanks to Buzzmasters and RFP Media for capturing the on-course shots of our tournament.

As can be seen by the many sponsors, we could not hold this event without their generous support.  We were also pleased to host curling icon, Kevin Martin and Sportsnet, who were in town to promote the upcoming Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling event, which will take place October 22-27 at Memorial Gardens.  Martin who was named Canada’s best male curler in a recent poll by TSN, had praise for the event and the organizing committee, that will once again host a major curling event in our City.  Having Kevin at our tournament was a bonus for all that participated, as he spent the entire day meeting the golfers and volunteers.  He is a great ambassador for curling and a true gentleman.  Start planning to attend the Pinty’s Grand Slam event later this fall.

Peter Chirico is the President & CEO of the North Bay & District Chamber of Commerce.
