The Labour Market Group Workforce Week 2022

The Labour Market Group (LMG) is pleased to present Workforce Week 2022 to our communities April 4-8^th virtually through our interactive on line platform.  This week long series of events will highlight the resilient efforts of our employers and stakeholders, and will showcase the variety of opportunities available throughout the region despite the set backs of the past couple of years.  Signature events include:  Get Job Ready, Connect and several Job Fairs.

Monday April 4- Kick Off:  We are pleased to be kicking off the week with a virtual tour of LMG’s Ready Set Hired job portal featuring hundreds of employment opportunities within the Nipissing and Parry Sound districts, followed by the Parry Sound virtual job fair featuring a variety of local employers.  Employment Options in Sturgeon Falls is also offering several workshops throughout the day that focus on resume building and interview skills.

Tuesday April 5- GET JOB READY:  A day for job seekers looking to learn how to maximize their job search and ultimately secure employment.

This day long event will feature several components.  The first will be a panel of local employers providing job seekers with key insights and tips on the do’s and don’ts of interviews.  Next, a Service Provider Showcase will highlight the programs and services offered at employment agencies throughout the region.  Lastly, discover the Apprenticeship pathway through live sessions with Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Coordinators from 5 district school boards in the region. 

Wednesday April 6- CONNECT:  This unique event offers professional development opportunities for front line agencies to maximize collaborative approaches and stay motivated in client service. 

Mandi J. Buckner will be our featured Keynote and will explore topics such as building resilient employees  and enhancing the current practices of employers by equipping both with skills, knowledge and awareness that will improve productivity and engagement in a healthy workplace.  Employment North with round out the day with a virtual tour of an interactive virtual reality tool that explores career opportunities in the region.

Thursday April 7- BayWorks Virtual Job Fair:  A virtual job fair through our interactive platform. 

Over 100 employers from a variety of industries will be showcased.  Other job fairs in the region include Parry Sound Job Fair on Monday April 4^th and the West Nipissing Job Fairs on Wednesday and Thursday the 6^th and 7^th.

Friday April 8- Future Of Work kick off:  LMG is pleased to present a series of webinars featuring expert advice on the Future of Work. 

Economist Linda Nazareth will kick off our webinar series by discussing new workplace trends and their impact on the global economy.  Hoss Notarkesh will close out the week with a talk discussing some of the reasons businesses are having trouble attracting, retaining and sustaining qualified workers.
