Young Professional of the Month – Nathan Jensen

Architect

Nathan holds a Master of Architecture degree from Carleton University, which earned him the 2009 Royal Architectural Institute of Canada Medal for his thesis work.  His education also included semesters abroad in London, England, and Berne, Switzerland.  He became a licensed Architect with the Ontario Association of Architects after completing his internship with Mitchell Architects, and passing his licensing exams in 2012.

Nathan has continued his career at Mitchell Architects where he provides a leadership role.  His recent design work includes the new Parry Sound and North Bay Elementary Schools, Lakehead University’s Gichi Kendaasiwin Centre, the redevelopment of Cassellholme Home for the Aged, and is currently working on the design of a new Student Centre for the Nipissing University Student Union.  In addition to this work, Nathan serves on a sub-committee of the Invest North Bay Development Corporation, and participated as a panelist at this year’s Dream Big Conference for the Arts.

Nathan and his wife Nadine moved to North Bay in 2010, and enjoy an active outdoor lifestyle including camping, canoeing, snowshoeing, and dog sledding with their two Alaskan Malamutes.
