3rd Annual Children’s Festival: Travel the World with the Capitol Centre

The Capitol Centre Children’s Festival will return to kick off summer June 15 – 17, 2018. The 3rd Annual Children’s Festival has grown to a full weekend this year, celebrating multi-culturalism with three days of great performances and fun programming for children and families.

Friday, June 15, the Festival launches with an official smudging ceremony as well as a ribbon cutting ceremony with Tanya Vrebosch and our very own Katina Connolly. At 6:30 PM that evening we will welcome Sharon and Bram (originally from the hit TV show Sharon, Lois and Bram). This show is a sing along concert for the entire family, featuring such well loved favourites as “She’ll be Coming Round the Mountain”, “Five Little Monkeys”, “One Elephant”, “Tingalayo”, and of course “Skinnamarink”.

Saturday, June 16 is jam packed with fun activities for the whole family. From 9:00 AM to 2:15 PM, come and travel around the Capitol Centre stamping your passport as you go. There will be bouncy castles, costumed characters, puppet theatre, storytelling, mural painting, carnival games, make your own snow cones, live music featuring North Bay Ukulele Club, workshops and demos for kids and families with Grounded Studios Yoga, 3 Fires Martial Arts and even more fun including Steve Featherstone’s Reptile Adventure Camp. Festivities wrap up with a performance by Fana Soro who will be sharing his West African cultural heritage through music and dance he will also be doing a workshop during the day featuring 30-drums.

Sunday, June 17 The Children’s Festival comes to a close with a FREE showing of Early Man at 2:00 PM on the biggest screen in North Bay and the best popcorn in town available for purchase at our concession!
