The Chamber is accepting applications from members to host a monthly Business After Hours networking social. Contact our Chamber office at (705) 472-8480 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org for information on available dates in the coming year. Members considering being a BAH host may wish to consider enlisting one or more other business to jointly act as hosts.
Selecting Hosts for the BAH
The following criteria has been established by the Programs and Special Events Committee to determine hosts for future Business After Hours (BAH) networking socials:
- Hosts will be selected on a first come first basis except in instances where applications have been made for the same month by more than one organization. Preference will then be given to the organization that has either not hosted a BAH in the past or has hosted fewer BAH’s than the other applicant(s).
- So that BAH’s are not restricted to large organizations because of what may be viewed as prohibitive costs, the Chamber will encourage two or more members to co-host and thus share the expense of the BAH.
- The Chamber will also promote and organize Mini-Trade Shows. One and possibly two Mini Trade Shows will be held annually and this presents an excellent venue at minimal cost for small businesses to promote their products/services.
“Business After Hours provides an excellent opportunity for Chamber members to meet and network with other members. I have enjoyed many opportunities to source products and services from fellow members and provide them with information on our services in the relaxed environment offered at Business After Hours. As well, it is wonderful to have an opportunity to visit members’ premises on a rotating basis over the years.
One of the most tangible measures of the effectiveness of Business After Hours came for me when as a result of a casual conversation with Mr. Gary Spergel, of Heritage Scholarships, from Sudbury, we ended up doing a marketing CD-Rom for his company. This meeting occurred during the Business After Hours at the Lakeview several months ago when a delegation from Sudbury visited the North Bay Chamber. Since that time Gary has become a big supporter of our Information Technology Services.
I recommend Business After Hours to all Chamber members who wish to keep in touch with the latest happenings in the North Bay business community. I can honestly say that I never attend a Business After Hours without coming away with a lead or two on new business opportunities.”
