2016 EXECUTIVE BIOS
|JACQUES (JAKE) LACOURSE, President
Born and raised in the area, I’ve had a passion for the region. I’m the father of 2 fantastic children, Abbey and Jakob as well as husband to Michelle Lacourse. I’m a proud alumnus of Ecole Catholique Secondaire Algonquin as well as Canadore College’s Hotel, Resort and Restaurant Administration program in 2000. I have had the pleasure of working in the Hospitality field for the last 16 years currently serving as the Assistant General Manager of the Clarion Resort Pinewood Park. I have a fascination with business and have an uncanny ability to put teams together to creatively solve problems. I currently serve as President of the NBDCC leading the Chamber through some major changes this past year. I also serve as President of the Canadore College Alumni Association. I’m an advisor to the North Bay and Area Community Foundation and a member of the Northeastern Ontario Tourism Marketing Committee.
|BRAD GAVAN, 1st Vice President
I am a Business graduate of both Canadore College and Nipissing University, and have gained a solid foundation in all aspects of marketing and business, and executing multi-million dollar fundraising campaigns. I am the Director of Foundation, Corporate, Community and Alumni Partnership at Canadore College, and routinely strategizes with local companies, government funding agencies, Chamber and the City of North Bay to attract new business and develop jobs and infrastructure to enhance regional economic growth. I have also been directly involved in the success of projects such as the Innovation Centre for Manufacturing and Production, and the new Advanced Composites Fabrication, Repair and Test Centre. I am a strong believer in volunteering to support our community. I have held leadership roles on numerous local boards, campaigns and committees: the Co-Chair for North Bay Battalion ticket drive, Special Olympics, the Chamber, 2007 Hockeyville North Bay and Canadian Pond Hockey Face-Off.
|CHARLES ELLIOTT, 2nd Vice President
I have been in Retail Banking for 32 years. I started my career in Ottawa in 1983 with Canada Trust and have worked in nearly every position in the branch. In 1989 I moved to Kingston to work with the Mortgage Dept and in 1991 got the call to North Bay as an Assistant Manager in the Downtown branch of Canada Trust. In 1994 I moved to the North Bay Mall branch as the Branch Manager. In 2005 I was promoted to Branch Manager of the Downtown branch of TD Canada Trust. In May of 2015 I retired from TD Canada Trust. I have 3 beautiful children, Spencer, Bradley & Taylor. I also have a step-son Brady. I have been involved with all my children over the years, through coaching hockey and soccer or by watching all the events. The experience I have in the business world and the networking I have done through my kids sporting connections will be an asset to the North Bay & District Chamber of Commerce.
|PAUL DAIGLE, Treasurer
I am a proud family man and have been an active member of the North Bay & District Chamber of Commerce for over 10 years. My wife and I have three children ages 15, 9 and 4 and we are all lifelong residents of North Bay. Currently I am employed at RBC Royal Bank, holding the role of Senior Account Manager, Business and Personal, for North Bay, Sturgeon Falls, and Callander. In 2008 and 2009, the Chamber awarded me the Mary Ellen Horner Memorial Award as Volunteer of the Year. I have been involved with many boards including the Nipissing Kiwanis Club, the Canadore College Alumni Association, Nipissing Parry Sound Business Centre and various committees with the Chamber. Over my term, I will draw on this experience and knowledge to help benefit the Chamber. I am passionate for my community and will work hard as a director of the Chamber.
|JOHN STRANG, Past President
I have worked in customer service in North Bay for the past 30 years. I’ve owned my own business for the past 10 years and have served on the board of directors of the North Bay and District Chamber of Commerce since 2002. I am a proud father of four children and an even prouder grandfather of one. I am also lucky enough to have them living here in North Bay. I believe that I have the right mix of business, social and volunteer experience to continue to assist the Chamber in fulfilling its mandate. The members of the Chamber deserve to be heard and I will help facilitate that.
|PATTI CARR, Executive Director
I have been honoured to serve as a Chamber Executive Director for almost 16 years and appreciate the opportunity to do so this coming year. I have been an employee with the Chamber for the past 27 years and I feel I have had the opportunity to be involved in most aspects pertaining to the Chamber and its mandate. I am very excited to move forward in 2016, as the voice of business for North Bay and area and I appreciate the support of the volunteers, members and staff of the Chamber. I am also very proud of my two sons, both of which call North Bay home.
